Our proposal for the transformation of the existing blast furnace at Huta Pokój into the Wielki Piec Museum envisions a multifunctional public landmark for the city of Ruda Śląska. The new program is introduced as a frame-like structure, forming a protected public square that serves as a generous entrance area and also functions as a stage for small concerts, film screenings, and community events.
This architectural "frame" initiates a dialogue between the site's industrial heritage and the newly proposed museum complex. The new museum, featuring offices, an auditorium, and a hidden garden, amplifies the dramatic atmosphere of the existing industrial landscape.
At the heart of the design is a unique fusion of tradition, Silesian culture, and modernity. As such, the multifunctional structure, along with the spacious outdoor areas of the Museum Square and the Secret Garden, will become an ideal space for education, culture, and entertainment. This thoughtful combination of functions results in a distinctive destination that enhances the appeal of Ruda Śląska and its surroundings for both residents and visitors.
The Wielki Piec Museum is set to play a vital role in preserving and celebrating the industrial heritage of Silesia.
